2019 sees us undertaking research and development of our next production: English Dirt. With the rise of nationalism across the West, English Dirt will interrogate themes of historic nationhood and land-ownership and connect them to the current contemporary struggles around border controls, Fracking legislation and the housing crisis. Within the current toxic political climate, we wish to ask questions about longing, belonging and collective identities. The show will also incorporate music from York duo Flora Greysteel. In March we were part of Third Angel's Mentorship Scheme, and in August received Arts Council funding to develop the script and work with actors to produce a 40 minute scratch piece at Derby Theatre. We want to take English Dirt to theatres, festivals, music venues, pubs, DIY spaces, protest camps, parks...basically anywhere where people want to see a lively, passionate protest play. Email [email protected] if you want a production pack and more info. You can watch a trailer for this scratch below.
